It's still winter and raining and although I quite like this weather I can't wait for spring so that I can dive into these crystal waters again! Gordon's Bay has to be one of the most beautiful coastal spots in Sydney. How fortunate to have this marine park so close to the city. Everytime I do the coastal walk these turquoise waters sing to me, inviting me in.
I'm loving these prints by Amanda Colville from http://mangleprints.blogspot.com.au. I love the block printing process and have found that the application to other mediums is limitless and this is how I create many of my works. The fabric printing and the roller created by http://mangleprints.blogspot.com.au in collaboration with http://the-painted-house.co.uk is very inspirational!
I'm loving these colourful, juicy splatts! I think they will look amazing on gift wrap or fun linen for a childrens birthday party! Looking forward to having this range printed.
A really productive day getting some of my surface designs organsied.
Very excited about tomorrows Dreamer's Market. These are the latest designs that I've been working on. Original patterns and surface design by me on a range of products. I'm really pleased with how the works have come together and a big thank you to my social media assistant Bella who has been updating my sites for me. xx
I'm loving every minute of this process. These are the templates that I've designed for my Gift Wrap. I'm feeling like everything is sliding into place with my work at the moment. I am loving creating new patterns and have drawn great inspiration from an artist and designer in the US, Jessica Swift. Jessica creates the most wonderful surface pattern and designs and is extremely generous in sharing her wisdom and the steps in her creative journey through her blog posts and e-book, Jump, Trust, Repeat.
I purchased the e-book the other day and I'm not finished reading it yet but it is a gem! I would recommend it to anyone on a creative journey, it's uplifting, honest, generous and filled with practical advice.
Okay it's been a while! I feel like I've been a hermit for a while as I've worked on getting some work together. I bought myself a Wacom tablet for Christmas and have been steadily working away and playing with the digital process. There are some early plays with this early in the blog. The part of this process that has been exciting me the most is how this process will work with surface design.
I've got some work together and I'm really pleased with the results. Off to market on Saturday @ the Dreamer's Market to see how the work is received. Fingers crossed all goes well. I'll post up some better quality images tomorrow, I was just so happy with the results I couldn't wait to get this out there!
Artist, designer and educator, inspired by light, colour and the world around me.
